It was raining today. Too bad because I wanted to get back to work in the yard. I put on my boots during a lull and went out to check on my daffodils and tulips. They are blooming very satisfactorily. But some BAD CREATURE is eating some of my tulips. Just nipping them off like candy, leaving occasional scattered petals. Grr. Back in Pennsylvania, the deer ate all the tulips, so I quit planting them. We don't have deer here, so I guess it must be the rabbits. Or maybe a gourmandizing raccoon or skunk.

We went to see Endgame today. I bought popcorn, and the Sparrowhawk was so engrossed in the movie that he didn't eat any. That didn't stop me. I won't say anything spoilerish. Suffice it to say that it was very poignant, absorbing, and distracting. A good movie for people grappling with themes of death and destruction. I won't say "dealing with" those themes, because I can't and never will "deal" with them. I struggle and endure, but I don't "deal." It's like when the Former Student told me he was seeking "closure" by attending my father's funeral. I laughed and said "You're not getting any f+cking closure. I'm his daughter, and I don't have closure, and you're not going to get it either." I suppose it is somewhat to his credit that he continued to cultivate my acquaintance even after this comment. I've thrown away more papers. Probably not enough.

True in real life as well as for the victims of Thanos.
