Jul. 1st, 2019

Today was our first 90 degree day. I took an early walk and came home only half-melted. I've been worried about the Sparrowhawk. He had a couple of very active days last week, when he worked hard and got a lot done. But he's had trouble getting enough sleep, and has also had a couple of days when he was very tired. It's hard to tell if it's the Parkinson's or something else. This morning, he was still tired when he got up. I remade the bed so it looked inviting, and he took a nap while I was out walking. When I came home, I made us some egg salad on toast for breakfast, and then we meditated. After that, he was feeling a lot better, but still took it easy today. Sadly, I have not yet worked my way back to the place where meditation is working terrifically well for me. It's pretty hard to believe in your mind influencing your body when you have a coughing attack in the middle of it! I have to admit, I spend most of my time being distracted by thinking about recipes. I thought of a way to make red, white, and blue jello--only to find that someone has already put the same exact method on the internet. I suppose there are worse forms of illusion. Probably the Dalai Lama is not troubled by thoughts of jello, but you never know.

In the evening, I went out to water my plants. The Sparrowhawk sat in a lawn chair and read. It was such a nice evening that I got my gardening gloves and attacked some more weeds. I quit when I was getting too hot again. We sat in the yard in the evening breeze for awhile, then went inside and had more strawberries.
