Sep. 3rd, 2019

It's been a rainy, windy day with threats of thunderstorms. They never actually arrived, but I didn't get a walk in because of the changeable weather. Also because the forms for my share of the inheritance from my mother finally arrived, and I had to fill those out, get one notarized, and mail them back. Then we moved on to the cafe at the bookstore. I pondered my situation--loss, aging, change--and tried to figure out how to adjust to it with self-respect and enjoy the liberating aspects of change rather than indulging the regrets. I made a list. Isn't that always the way! It's definitely a work in progress.

I've been worried about Queenie, who lives in Florida, and the Diva, who lives in North Carolina, as Dorian wends its massive yet fickle way toward the coast. It looks as if they won't get hit too badly. But omg, the Bahamas . . . so much sadness for the people enduring that devastation. I was also worried about Tron, who is not bouncing back as we had hoped after her lumbar puncture. She's still experiencing after effects as well as the symptoms of her IIH or whatever it turns out to be. And she's alone, because the Lumberjack, who is normally an outstanding support, is away on a week-long conference. We just found out today that the Diva, whose school is closed because of the hurricane, is taking advantage of the days off to drive up to DC and spend some time with Tron. What a great sister. These are the kids I have--I'm so grateful for them. My biggest success is having nurtured them to maturity so they could fly off into the world.
