RedFox of Ember
Nov. 13th, 2019 10:11 pmI slept late this morning, again. It was great. So I didn't have time for much besides a cup of tea and a shower before going to my follow-up doctor's appointment, pursuant to the recent unpleasantness. I sat in the exam room for quite a while because she was late. It was funny because I could hear the sound of her voice going a mile a minute in some nearby place. I assumed she was having an appointment with someone else that ran long. I didn't begrudge it, because I appreciate that she takes the time that is needed. Someday I might need an extra-long appointment. Then she rushed in and tried to remember what my problem was. Basically, we agreed that nobody knows why my stomach hurt, but it's good that it stopped, and I should still get a colonoscopy. Also, that my latest lab numbers are terrific. My cholesterol is 121, my blood sugar is bang in the middle of normal, instead of edging up toward areas of concern, and my electrolytes are back in order. So I guess now we know what I need to do to lose weight and improve my numbers: get horribly sick and stop eating. Sigh. . . .
I got home in time to order some new insulated curtains for the finished room in the basement. I was supposed to get a 25% discount, but there wasn't a box to enter the code number. I was irked. I wrote to customer service and complained, and they said they'd send me a refund for the amount. Yay me. I got a small amount of writing done. While I was working on that, FedEx delivered my new boots. I put them on and shoveled the snow off the porch roof and the back steps, and took a very quick walk before it got completely dark. It was 20 degrees and felt like 10, but my feet stayed warm. The boots seemed to fit, and the soles are extra grippy for slick surfaces, and they seem to actually work. I felt much more secure on the icy bits.
We had a delicious dinner: trout filet, fried potatoes, green beans, and roasted beets with walnuts and goat cheese. I made the beets. The Sparrowhawk made the trout and potatoes. Cooperation at its finest.
