Lamb'sEar of Celeste
Dec. 16th, 2019 11:18 pmI had a haircut this morning, and picked up my new glasses at the end of the day, so I'm very shiny at the moment. Most of my useful time was spent working on the basement. All the furniture is back in place, and the books are back in the bookcases. The Sparrowhawk is trying to hook the TV up again. So far, no luck. Tomorrow he's going for an intake interview and exam with the drug trial he volunteered to do. It's in a Detroit suburb two or three hours from here, so it will be an all day thing. He doesn't know if he'll really do it. It is a residential thing. They want to keep tabs on them 24/7 because it's a safety trial, so they will control their food intake and just about everything else. They said originally it would take place in Jan/Feb, for a month, but then they said they might move it up to right after Christmas. He told them that if that was the case, he didn't want to do it, because he'd miss seeing the kids during Christmas week. But they haven't decided yet, so he still might be gone for a month at some point. Anyway, when he gets back, he'll call the cable people to get them to walk him through reconnecting the TV, so it will work by the time the kids get here.
We went to the bookstore for coffee in the afternoon, and did some shopping for small presents there. The stamps the Sparrowhawk ordered from USPS after being disappointed in the selection at the post office here arrived in the mail! Yay! I hadn't expected them to come so soon. Now I can mail off another round of Christmas cards. I've done a dozen more today. And in conclusion, happy birthday to Jane Austen and to Beethoven, although I'm not sure the two of them would have gotten along. I wonder if she was familiar with his music. I'm sure Marianne Dashwood would have loved to play Beethoven piano sonatas.
