Grizzly of Celeste
Dec. 17th, 2019 09:37 pmDays like this, when I need to get up at a certain time, are always the ones where I feel I could sleep a bit longer. Whereas, when I have nothing planned and could sleep all day, I wake up at 5 and can't go back to sleep! My brain was not working fast this morning, but I woke up enough to make sure the Sparrowhawk had a couple of snacks to take with him--a Lucy cat with ham, half a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter, and some grapes. Then I had a long chat with Deb, which is always life-enhancing. My contribution to getting the house ready was to clean the basement windows on the inside, figure out how to disassemble the curtain rod, and put up the new curtains. I had been looking forward to this moment as the capstone of our cleanup operation down there, and it was very satisfying. I also rassled the vacuum cleaner and got half the bedroom vacuumed. The Sparrowhawk got home in good time (yay!) and we dashed over to the garden store to buy a Christmas tree. There weren't very many left, but we found a nice one, and it is stashed in the garage in a bucket of water. I wrote another sixteen Christmas cards.
The Sparrowhawk met all the people at the facility where he'll be staying. They decided to start the study on January 8, so he is pretty much decided to do it. Dedication to science! I do hope he'll be in the group that gets the medication. I really don't know how much time I'll be able to spend with him, because I've already told him that if the weather is bad, I am NOT DRIVING to and fro to visit. I have just had quite enough of that and I need a winter off. But perhaps we'll have a mild winter and I'll be able to go a couple of times. Also, Deb's husband, the Prussian, will be taking a couple of weeks off work for medical reasons, and the facility is close enough to where they live that they might drive over and visit the Sparrowhawk. It would be fun if I could be there too. I'm afraid it will be dreadfully boring for him, but they do have internet and an exercise room--though probably miniscule if I know medical facilities. This place sports the rather science-fictional name of "the MIND building!"
