In spite of the ice storm, it was a happy day. I have a nice memory, clear as a snapshot, of Tron at the other end of the couch, looking elegant with her hair clipped back and a colorful wrap across her shoulders, drinking her coffee from a flowered cup that came from Grandmother's house. She managed to get out and do her errands before the ice got too bad--although she admitted hours later that actually it had been pretty bad already! I made way too much chicken stir fry, marinated with white wine and a little oil, cooked with onions, walnuts, soy sauce and a sesame oil. And a matching set of veggies--carrot, celery, peppers, cabbage, mushrooms, green onions and cilantro--sprinkled with rice vinegar to bring out the flavor. And a pot of rice. We sat down at the table to have a final feast, and the Lumberjack actually felt well enough to come up and join us for a few minutes! He tried a small portion of everything, and then took seconds and thirds. There's still a lot of chicken left, but he finished off the vegetables. He said he was craving protein, so I'm very pleased because I think this will help him.

I made a fire in the fireplace, and Tron and I spent a peaceful evening enjoying the fire. She's teaching herself to crochet, so she worked on that and read a favorite book. We had ice cream and gingerbread cookies.I'm just hoping the roads will be good tomorrow for their journey home. I'm feeling very satisfied to send them off with a full tank of gas and four bags of groceries, and hopefully with enough rest and healing to feel better as the semester begins. Now if I could just get the weather gods to do my bidding!
