Weasel of Bluster
Feb. 14th, 2020 09:10 pmCold day today--20 degrees, with a little snow swirling in a wind that brought the chill factor down to 10. That's balmy by Minnesota standards, but it was still pretty cold by mine. We went out in the morning to do a grocery extravaganza. I may have overdone it a bit, but I wanted to make sure the Sparrowhawk got to enjoy all those things that are good, and good for him, that he didn't get in his hermitage. I also stocked up on some canned and frozen staples so we won't run out of anything. And, of course, the obligatory pack of toilet paper. Nothing says security like plenty of soap and TP. It doesn't hurt that we have lots of chocolate, either.
We had pre-planned to spend Valentine's Day happily indoors by the fire. I carried the cans and frozen things to their resting places, and brought in a load of wood, because his knee is still bothering him. Then he built the fire, we put some music on, and were very comfortable by the hearth, reading, writing and napping until late afternoon, when there were snacks, cocktails, and schmoopy stuff. We had steak and eggs for dinner, followed by a piece of birthday cake I had frozen to share when he came home. Over the course of the day, messages arrived from the kids to let us know the supply of chocolate we sent them had arrived. Tron said she felt like Charlie Bucket. The Nipper sent a picture of the Raptor holding the box of chocolate and shouting "I think this, this is, this is CRAAAAZY!" He's not wrong. But it's a good kind of crazy!
