RedSquirrel of Bluster
Feb. 15th, 2020 10:16 pmI forgot to mention the most important news item from yesterday: Tron texted to say she received a "high pass" on her comprehensive exams! We are all jubilant. I'm so proud of her. She worked very hard for this. It took not work alone, but plenty of atty-tude in the form of never giving up. Well, now that step is behind her at last, and she moves on up the PhD mountain.
We had plans this morning to go downtown and hear the astronaut Story Musgrave speak. However, we woke up really late and I didn't even think of it until the Sparrowhawk mentioned it. Ugh, another black mark in the Brain Demerit book. If it had been very important to him to go, I would have pulled myself together, and vice versa. But it turned out neither of us really felt it essential to dash off unwashed and scruffy. We heard a very good version of "My Life As An Astronaut" from Kjell Lindgren in Helsinki. So we passed on the pleasure this time. Eventually we got ourselves motivated. The Sparrowhawk went to pick up books from the library and put gas in the car (with our 99 cents per gallon coupon from the shoppapalooza yesterday!) and stop at the farmers market to get apples and honey. He also picked up another package of breakfast sausage from the Farmer Ladies because, sausage! I cleaned up the kitchen and made some rather delicious chicken salad with apple, grapes, celery, and pecans in it. Really I guess it was more like a fruit salad with chicken in it. We had it for lunch. For dinner, I made the mango chicken curry again, with broccoli and rice. I don't seem to get as much done as I imagine every morning, but no surprises there.
