Endosperm of Trill
Mar. 30th, 2020 09:20 pmWell, apparently when my body does get 8 hours of sleep, it takes that as a mandate to stop sleeping for the next couple of days. I'm running on less than 5 hours right now. Things kept waking me up, including a bad dream so scary that I shut my eyes--in the dream--and put my hands over my ears. There was a lot of screaming going on. I said, "I DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT!" so loudly that I woke myself up. It was still drizzly in the morning, but we decided enough was enough, and went over to the small lake for a walk anyway. I had the umbrella, and the Sparrowhawk had his Stormy Kromer hat and his water resistant parka. We saw the heron, but it flew majestically away on finding itself observed. We also saw a goose on her nest, safely tucked into a thicket on an island. I made another batch of oatmeal raisin cookies, now that I have enough brown sugar and butter. This time I used the recipe from the inside of the oatmeal box lid. I was not satisfied with it. I wonder if I just failed to mix it enough. They were supposed to bake in 10-12 minutes, but they weren't done! I had to put them back in for another five minutes and then bake the next batch for 15-20. They're not my favorite, but the Sparrowhawk is eating them, so that's the main thing. I'm trying to find the perfect recipe. I collected a stack of books to donate to a friend who is starting a . . . I'm not sure what to call it. A wellness center, I guess. She's going to do meditation and body work, creativity coaching, and so forth, as well as partnering with people who will teach yoga, fiber arts, drumming, and all manner of energizing activities. Sadly, she was just going to open her new facility when everything shut down. She's still planning for the future, and is going to have a lending library. I contacted her to arrange a pickup method.
