Last night was okay until about 4 am, when I woke up suddenly and couldn't go back to sleep. Actually, it wasn't SO much okay, because even though I was sleeping on and off, my stomach hurt a lot. When I woke up, I couldn't ignore it any more, so I guess that's why I stayed up. After it got light, I went back to bed. The Sparrowhawk was still asleep, and I went back to sleep for a couple of hours. I was awakened by the ungodly racket of the neighbor's lawn crew and their machines. By then I had 6 hours, which was enough to get me through the day. It was not the day I'd been looking forward to. The weather was very nice, but I couldn't take the fullest advantage of it. The morning was shot to pieces, and I just didn't feel good enough to go out and do yard work anyway. It's all very well . . . but I feel a certain amount of silent panic because, at this point in my life, I feel I don't have extra days to waste lolling about. I have things I need to take care of, or else. But there's nothing I can do about it except try to get better.

My stomach is still not happy. It's like a mini-version of when I was sick in September. I hope it won't get as bad as it was then. We sat in the back yard and had tea and enjoyed the small birds happily fluttering and chirping in the shrubbery. We had a bit of a chat with the neighbor over the fence. I put some laundry in and fixed dinner--chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and salad. Mashed potatoes with a little chicken is fairly soothing. I noticed some more poison ivy and sprayed it with the killer substance. It's obviously trying to spread. I can only hope that I'll be able to stop it. After dinner, I went out and watered everything. It's going to be very hot again tomorrow. I hope I'll be prepared by actually sleeping for a change.
