It's like pulling teeth to get myself to post anything these days. Nothing seems worth recording. But I did a few things today. It was perfectly beautiful, after a string of wet days. We went for a walk in the morning. Sunlight gleamed through the increasingly fragile green of remaining leaves. The hickory trees are like tall golden torches. They always remind me of mallorn trees at this time of year. I did a quick cleanup of the kitchen and disassembled some chicken. Yesterday I made a new batch of bread, so I had a chicken sandwich for lunch. We ventured out into the backyard again, with jackets on. It was warm enough in the sun, although there was a pretty stiff breeze blowing. I had a phone chat with Queenie, and then picked one very last batch of beans out of the garden. While walking around the yard, I discovered more piles of deer fumets. Those little beasts are now making a hangout of my yard! Hey you kids, get off my lawn! I was inspired to cook something for dinner. I used the chicken, some onion and carrots that needed to be used up, plus mushrooms and thyme, and made a chicken pot pie with a biscuit top. Also mashed potatoes, the green beans, and corn on the cob. The Sparrowhawk really enjoyed it, and that always makes me feel good.
