PygmyRabbit of Shadow
Oct. 23rd, 2020 09:03 pmI only got four hours of sleep last night, and have been in a state of somewhat altered consciousness all day. Also, my stomach really hurts again. It rained last night, and then started in again this morning. I made my weekly trek to the grocery store, as early as I could manage. It was POURING when I got there, and I dashed across the parking lot. I don't actually mind getting wet. It's refreshing. Then I bought way too much stuff, because we've been hearing rumors that there were going to be shortages again because of the covid-19 spike. So I got flour, cooking oil, toilet paper, hand soap, and all those things. The two checkers and I joked about it quite a lot. They told me that it was all a ruse to make the stock prices go up again. Our favorite pharmacist told me that she is retiring at the end of next week! She turned 62 and has "a lot of things I want to do." She also wants to retire before winter comes so she won't have to do any more commuting. Very sensible!
We made haste to put all the cold things in the refrigerator so we could be on time for our weekly Zoom call with Deborah and the Prussian. That is always fun and energizing. After that, I finally got a bite to eat and a shower. The pharmacist called to say that the long-delayed flu vaccine has arrived and she would save me a shot if I still wanted it. So I drove back over there and got my shot. Speaking of medical matters, I forgot to mention that my blood work came back, and everything is good. My blood sugar, which had been a little high at one point, is back in normal range, as is my A1C, my cholesterol, and my hemoglobin. All the other electrolytes and whatnot are fine too. I feel absurdly pleased with myself when the numbers are good, as if I had accomplished something, even though I have no idea what I could possibly have done to make it so.
