Jan. 23rd, 2021 09:58 pmThe sun came out, and the sky was blue as could be. The Sparrowhawk made me some pancakes and bacon for breakfast, and I ate some with reckless disregard for my outlaw tummy. I got away with it, too. Then the Sparrowhawk made a run to pick up the cake he'd ordered from a colleague at his former workplace. This friend had a side-hustle making cakes, and they are delicious. It was nice for the Sparrowhawk, as well, because he got to chat briefly with the friend, who told him his name still comes up at work, "and always in a good way." Meanwhile, I dashed out for a walk, afraid of losing the window and having the sun disappear again. It was bright and frosty out, a perfect winter day. I slithered and crunched quickly around the path. When I got back, the Sparrowhawk was home and had started a fire in the fireplace.
It was a good day, if a little bittersweet. I had some moments of thinking about all the things I would have liked to do, and feeling as if I will never have fun ever again. But I know that's not true . . . things will surely get better someday . . . and chances are I WILL be here for that . . . The good part was getting to talk to all of the kids, and friends too. And I got more presents than Christmas!! People were so kind. The kids all went in together on a secret present that was unique and very special. It's a delicate necklace of hand-painted fabric in the shape of a luna moth, with a single tiny opal as a pendant. It's magical, and I adore it. The Sparrowhawk gave me another pair of my favorite Lonny Cloud earrings. They're carved out of bone in the shape of feathers, and painted. I have hawk and bluejay. The new ones are cardinal feathers. They're the true scarlet, perfect for a winter day, and I've been wearing them since I got up.
Birthdays are very exhausting, even if you don't actually do anything! I think I'll just rest atop this new milestone for awhile and contemplate it. No need to rush on down the road just yet.
