Sep. 2nd, 2022 08:30 pmI hope that the coming of fall will eventually reverse my increasing unwillingness to wear clothes. I haven't yet come to running around stunningly nude, but I find myself irked by most proper streetwear, and end up reverting to my "leisure wear" earlier and earlier in the day. I went all through covid dressing up each morning as if I might go out any minute, but at some point I seem to have given up. It may require the pure cold air of winter to brace me up again.
I'm still recuperating from whatever got me down in the last few days. I couldn't get ready fast enough to grocery shop before our weekly Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. I barely managed to get dressed--hence my meditation above. After we talked with them, I made a whirlwind raid on the store. I've tried to get only a few things that needed refrigerating, because our refrigerator is barely hanging in there, until its replacement arrives on Tuesday. I then had a brief chat with the Nonesuch before getting back to work on my WIP. Only a couple of pages, but it was progress.
Dinner had a lot of pre-made food in it. I'm not up for any elaborate cuisine. At first I felt guilty about this. We had frozen fish filets heated up in the oven, frozen french fries, and some coleslaw and potato salad from the deli. And some fresh green beans and local sweet corn--at least there were some vegetables. The Sparrowhawk declared it delicious. I have been thinking lately that, hello, I am already 71 years old. Will my life expectancy from now on actually change if I occasionally eat food from the freezer or the deli? I suspect that at this point, my path is pretty much set before me, regardless of how I try to affect it. Barring catastrophes like being hit by a truck, of course. But I have no control over those things anyway. Might as well enjoy the ride. It'll be downhill all the way . . . .
