PeaHen of Bluster
Feb. 17th, 2025 09:26 pmI've now reached the point in my life where many things, such as showering, making the bed, etc. have begun to seem so tiresome. Rather than being brisk tiny tasks that take up almost no space in the great scheme of things, they seem to go on at quite excessive length and to use up more energy than they're worth. I think about how many thousands of times I've done this, and wonder how many thousand are still to come. But I've also spent enough time around old people to know that there comes a time when people long for the ability to do these simple things again, so I guess I should do them while I can. Smoke 'em if you got 'em, as it were. Lately, there have been quite a few naps taken, so some might say it was a waste of time to make the bed, but there is something very comforting and comfortable about getting back into a bed where all the pillows have been plumped and the sheets smoothed and laid straight. So I like to do it anyway. Not sure about the shower, though. On the one hand, I enjoy the water cascading over me, but I'd like to have the option of getting into one of those space age booths they have in science fiction, pressing a button, and having all the dirt zapped off in an instant.
I'm hot and cranky, which sometimes means I have a virus. I hope to recover and have more energy tomorrow. I probably should have scraped off the driveway again. More snow fell, and the snow that was already there swirled around in mini tornadoes and drifted back over the cleared areas. The Sparrowhawk listened to the weather person cheerfully informing us that there are some slippery areas due to drifted snow, but the visibility isn't really poor except on south 131, thought it over and decided maybe he wouldn't try to go to the gym tonight. He picked up his phone to text Coach, only to find that she'd decided to cancel class anyway. He went and worked out in the basement instead. He is so diligent. I am not--at least not today.
