Brook of Bluster
Mar. 12th, 2025 09:14 pmI got a hearty lunch out of the day, at least. When I arrived at Madame's current dwelling, she was still in the bathroom trying to get dressed. I found this out because I knocked and called, but received no answer, so I stepped inside to see if she was there. I saw the bathroom door closed, with the light showing through the crack below. I decided to wait in her room, and that's when I saw her hearing aid lying on the counter, and realized that's why she couldn't hear me. The staff have been told that their most important assignment is to make sure she has her hearing aid on, but at times they seem to find this difficult. Two of the batteries were lying on the counter rather than being plugged into the charger. I plugged them in, and the light was blue, meaning they had not been charged up overnight. I took out the battery that was in the hearing aid and plugged it in too, just to check. It wasn't charged either. Sigh. I hoped that by the time we were ready to go, one of them would charge up, and it worked, for which I was extremely grateful.
It was sunny out, and it was supposed to be warm, so I told Madame that her fleece jacket would be warm enough. My mistake, my big fat mistake!! As we made our way to the car, she said "You were wrong! It's cold as hell out here!" Mercy--such language! I could only laugh and say "Yes, you're right. It is cold." Once at the cafe, she was going to order a salad. I told her that last time we ate together, she told me to tell her not to order salad next time, because it's too hard to eat. She was astonished by this and said it was a good thing I remembered that, because she didn't. I pointed out she could change her mind if she wanted to and have salad anyway. That was too complicated for her, and she said she'd have what I was having. So I ordered cream of broccoli soup and quiche, which I thought would be good for her. She thought it was a lot, but she still ate it.
Mademoiselle planned to pick her mom up from the cafe and take her to an appointment with her hair stylist. This saved me some trouble, because it meant I didn't have to get her into the car and back to her dwelling. But it didn't save much time, because I was socializing with Mademoiselle and admiring the baby, who is a simply adorable child, with such big eyes looking closely at everyone and everything. I got to hold her for a few minutes.
