Silverbill of Shadow
Nov. 5th, 2020 10:04 pmI had another go at the buckthorn today. I took down a couple of really big ones. Oof. One of them I had previously thought I'd better not try, because the topmost twigs were too close to the phone lines. However, on closer scrutiny, I decided it would work provided I clipped those branches off first, from the bottom, and let them fall. It worked--just! The other big one at the far end of the yard I'm definitely not taking down myself. I'm not getting that far above meself. I do have SOME limits. The pile of detritus has attained epic proportions. While I was cutting away, a lovely big fat redheaded woodpecker flew in, perched on a branch and seemed to be asking what the heck I thought I was doing!
I stopped for a cup of tea and a commiseration with a friend who had some bad news. I made cauliflower and cheese for dinner, with the leftover nachos and another salad, and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. Then we FaceTimed with Tron about Christmas plans. There is a possibility that she and the Lumberjack will come for a visit, if everything goes well. Hope hope! X=crossed fingers.
