Thanksgiving
Nov. 26th, 2020 10:06 pmThe turkey and sides eaten, the food put away, most of the pots and pans done, and the rest soaking, the dishwasher running--we finally arrived at the best part: the PIE course! I had a sad moment when I was thinking that I could set the table with my nice new Portmeirion plates. And then I remembered we only needed two. The Sparrowhawk put the rest of them on the table anyway, for absent friends. Or Elijah and as many angels as he wants to bring with him. The pies were delicious. Today would also have been my father's 97th birthday. We had a lovely Zoom with all the kids in the morning, but I was starting to feel sad again once the pie was gone. It seemed awfully quiet in here. But then my sibs texted, and then the kids sent pictures of their dinners. Love at a distance is still good. A happy night to all of you!
