The sky after sunset was the most wonderful velvety dark cobalt blue, spangled with Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars--still brighter than Jupiter, like a big topaz. The way the sky glowed was mysterious until we came around a corner and saw the almost-full moon. I'm having massive post-holiday anxiety, for no apparent reason. It's probably the past, as usual. I have such a lot of that now that it's easy to blame everything on that! One excuse is as good as another, as a psychiatrist I know used to say. I got the Sparrowhawk to go for a walk with me, and that helped. Walking it off often helps. We took a detour to go past the house with the beehives. They've wrapped them in something shiny that looks like silver foil for the winter! Lots of people are putting up Christmas decorations already. On the way home, we saw the new neighbor on the corner coming out of his house. From a discreet distance, we said hi, and learned the names of himself, his wife, and their baby, and various tidbits about what they do and problems they encountered while moving. It's always nice to meet some neighbors. We had lovely leftovers for dinner again, with the addition of some green salad, which I felt was needed. I had some pie as an afternoon snack instead of in the evening, which agrees much better with my stomach. We had another little round of texting and sending pictures with the kids, which is always cheering. I've had a little wisp of an idea for my story, and a plot is beginning to swirl cloudily in my head. I'll lick it into shape a little more (like the primeval cow Audhumla, of whom Wikipedia says she is "ultimately belonging to larger complex of primordial bovines or cow-associated goddesses") and then run it by the editor.
