Not the best couple of days. Today, the sun came out for a bit, but my schedule did not have room for a walk unless I'd unplugged something else that I didn't want to let go of. Maybe tomorrow. My stomach was killing me yesterday, so I tried to stick with the bland diet today. So far so good. My story is up to 40 percent . . . but this is where the goal posts start to moonwalk backwards, as I think about all the things that still need to be worked in, and wonder if I may need a few more words than I planned for. It's okay because the brief was for "at least 10,000 words," but it could go up to 15,000. I was aiming for the shorter end, though, so I must try not to be too indulgent. I'm not getting paid by the word. I enjoy being able to mentally transport myself to another world, for reasons that I'm sure are all too obvious. On top of everything else, today is the seventh anniversary of my father's death. It's hard to believe it's been that long already. I still remember vividly what horrible weather we had that year. It seems unfair that there's so little snow this winter. It would have been an easy year for driving to see elderly relatives--but no one can go anywhere or see anyone! Ah, the perversities of fortune. I guess I should revise that to say that nobody should go anywhere or see anyone. Obviously, some people did go where they never should have. We got mild weather just when a gigantic, airport-closing polar vortex would have been most excellent! Again I say, o Fortuna! Thou art a right strumpet.

Anniversaries are hard.

May I ask what the story is for?
