Mistletoe of Sleet
Jan. 28th, 2021 09:47 pmMost days that start before dawn on less than five hours of sleep are not going to go well, and this was no exception. I tried twice to take a nap, but for a variety of reasons, it didn't work. We did successfully call Tron to wish her a happy birthday, and she Facetimed with us while taking a walk. She looked very beautiful under a sunny blue sky--like a character in a Scandinavian fairy tale in her red coat and fuzzy white hat. Other than that, I feel very stupid and have done little. During one of my inter-nap periods, I texted idly with a friend and listened to sea shanties on YouTube and sang along. This was amusing for the Sparrowhawk, at least I hope it was. When I started singing "Leave her, Johnny, leave her," he was heard to mutter "Oh no, not this again" because it always makes me cry. "I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier/The last of Barrett's privateers." I'd rather be "rolling down to old Maui, me boys, rolling down to old Maui." Or "get married instead and spend all night in bed, and go no more to sea." And hopefully do some sleeping before I start to hallucinate.
aw cmon
