Well, it seems that I'm feeling better. This morning I went out and did some more shoveling. As of last night, we had nine inches, and got two or three more today. It always seems rather jolly to me on the morning after a big snow, especially if it's on a Saturday. On a weekday, some of the neighbors have to get up before dawn and shovel cursorily and in a tearing hurry so they can get off to work. Back in the day, that's what the Sparrowhawk would do, and sometimes I would go and help him. Since COVID, it's much more leisurely even on a weekday. But on the weekend, people get up, have their coffee, and then mosey out to the fray sometime before noon. Then you can look up and down the street and see people clearing the snow away in no particular hurry. Today, I got started before Irish next door was up and about, so I got my own porch and walk and the lower end of the driveway done by myself. Then he came out and zoomed swiftly around the rest of the driveway. I'm going to make that man some cookies. As a result, I had enough energy left to clear off and de-ice the car, and to shovel the side walkway so I could get around to the back door and shovel that clear so we can actually open it. Not that we are going anywhere, but I like to feel that I COULD.

I then came back inside, and we had ice cream for breakfast, in accordance with National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, a marketing ploy of which I heartily approve, for once. I put lots of nuts and berries on it, so that makes it healthy, right? It's sort of like yogurt . . . but with more sugar. I made a pot of soup, and a batch of my homemade barbecue sauce. I got my story reformatted and edited so I can send it somewhere once I get up my nerve. Then I browned some chicken thighs along with a couple of sweet potatoes, put sage and thyme on the potatoes and barbecue sauce on the chicken, and roasted it in the oven in the cast iron dutch oven. I steamed the broccoli and warmed up some leftover rice. We finally got back to work on the jigsaw puzzle Tron started for us at Christmas. I like a day when I feel as if I did something.
