My stomach is improving. But I'm still irritable and prone to fits of indignation, which is why the Sparrowhawk got treated to a stirring lecture on why people who haven't read Flannery O'Connor cannot possibly discuss Flannery O'Connor. There is no Spark Notes version of a writer like that, nor is there any way to give her stories a happy ending. The internet had offered me a misguided article about her, and I foolishly read it. This is the kind of thing I occupy myself with instead of getting things done. I critiqued a story for a friend, went for a walk, tidied some things, worked on the jigsaw puzzle. Meh.

I have to admit it was, in this case. It was a many-layered story, and I wanted to help but wasn't sure how to tackle it.
