Cricket of Bliss
May. 4th, 2021 10:28 pmAfter the heat on Sunday, it rained in the night and cooled off. Yesterday and today were both cool and rainy. Miraculously enough, my achey joints improved considerably. Of course, I haven't done any more work outside, either, because it was too wet. I need to get back down to it and see how I feel then. I made the Sparrowhawk some chicken with mushroom gravy and biscuits and put away laundry. In a bold move, I folded up the down comforter and put it away! So far, so good, although we are anticipating possible frost later this week. Yesterday morning, I had REAL LIFE chat and meditation with Dragonfly, out on the screen porch! It was the first time we had seen each other in the flesh in ages--I don't even know how long. Maybe someday soon we'll even be able to have lunch together. It is wonderful, but also very freaky. I wonder how long it will take me to take for granted again what used to be so normal.
Queenie has to isolate herself at home for another ten days, and then get tested again. Her surgery is rescheduled for July. Alas, they know very little about people with long COVID or continuing COVID, and there is no treatment for her, other than general rest and support. This is sad and worrying, but some good things happened on other fronts.
The Nipper's story came out today, so yet another of the family has officially published! Yippee! Behold the Editor's Note to the story:
"What a charming and unexpected fairy tale. The language is clever and really helps the reader visualize the story. You are going to love this wise and witty journey of growth."

We heard from the Philosopher, who said that he and his Lovely Friend are working on plans for a wedding in early December, a small gathering with immediate family and a few close friends. I'm delighted that it will be so soon, and looking forward to more details. Also, my check for the second story I sold recently came in the mail. So, lots of good news to contemplate.
