WoodNettle of Bloom
May. 21st, 2021 10:49 pmLast night I slept better, except for the part where I was awake from 4 to 5 with stomach pain and all the thoughts that go with it. I was so happy that I finally went back to sleep. I felt a good deal better today than yesterday--although that's a pretty low bar. We went to the farmer's market to get some nice vegetables, because there really weren't any at the store. We succeeded--I hope. We also got a dozen eggs and some tiny little dill plants. I hope to grow some fresh dill this year. We stopped at the Cheese Lady too. Tomorrow we're having guests for the first time in months, calloo, callay! Deb and the Prussian are venturing up to see us. You'd think that ONE SOLID YEAR would be enough time for me to have organized my possessions and developed a sensible cleaning plan, but if you thought that, you'd be wrong. Sigh.
The Sparrowhawk performed wonders, dashing out to fetch my fence panels from one hardware store (the big box one) and to get other needed items from the local. He also shined up the wood floors. I did some cooking, which shall remain anonymous because I want it to be a modest surprise for the guests. I have performed the usual amount of dashing about madly trying to make things presentable, with the usual amount of success. I leave that calculation to the reader. I also collected and bagged the weeds I pulled yesterday, and watered my plants with anxious care. Tomorrow will be so exciting! I can't even imagine seeing people in the house with no masks! It's like being a solitary colonist on Mars when another ship arrives. Ahoy! Ahoy!
