How to trick yourself into posting: say to yourself that you must read your reading page, in case your friends have posted something. And then there you are. It would be feeble not to post anything. It snowed today. This was the first time we had several inches rather than a sprinkle. We had to go out and shovel. The Sparrowhawk went to the farmers market without me, as he had other errands to run, and brought home some sausages and things. Other than the snow shoveling, my day was fairly pointless. The Christmas season is kicking my ass, so far. We thought about watching Die Hard tonight, but I have to get up at 8:30 to rehearse the children's Christmas cantata, so I'd better not. I have to say, I hate Unitarian Christmas. It's not at all meaningful, and it just irritates me. We're doing a musical about Rudolph, which I find rather twee but everyone else is squeeing about. Bah, humbug. I spent an hour trying to evade depression by watching Say Yes To The Dress and ranting to the Sparrowhawk about how all the gowns that were being chosen were SO WRONG. He is a very patient man.

Can you get out of the Unitarian Xmas stuff? Or is it, once a volunteer, you must volunteer for all?

No--I don't actually have to do anything. I can always say I'm not available that week. It's a very easy-going group. But the Christmas concert is a big deal, so it's nice to support my friends. And playing with them is fun. The music part is always good.
