ismoWoke up kind of late today after a vivid and exciting dream in which the mayor had sent me to our sister city in Australia (which we do not in fact have.) I was busily attending various civic events. I told our sister city's mayor that I was very excited to be in Australia. Unfortunately, I had left in such a hurry that I never found out exactly what my mission was supposed to be. Really, I just wanted to get outside and enjoy the scenery.
Meanwhile, here in Michigan:

Ah, like gold fall the leaves in the wind!
I have to say that every year, and today is the day. The wind arrived, and with it, the stinging rain, and the last of the leaves fell in a torrent--if they fell like gold, it was a tattered and faded gold.
I called my friend in MN to check on her, and talked to her daughter too. She had to hang up because the nursing home was calling. It wasn't an emergency, for which I am grateful. Then I dashed off to the grocery store where, among other things, I provisioned the Sparrowhawk with cheese, grapes, and wine for his book club, which meets here tomorrow. They are reading "Death Comes to Pemberley," which I think is hilarious. I guess they got tired of all the very serious works of fiction and non- that they've been doing lately. The Sparrowhawk is so touchingly trusting in my ability to pick out random cheap wines. He has much better taste in these things than I do, so I appreciate that he is taking a chance on my selections. I also got some chicken pot pie from the deli, on sale this week. When I got there, the shelves looked pretty bare, and I asked the nice lady there if they had any. She said it was in the oven and would be out in four minutes. When I came back around, she had some on a trolley and picked out the best ones for me. We had it for dinner, and it was surprisingly good. Plenty of chicken and veggies, and a crisp crust.
