Long ago, when the Sparrowhawk and I were going out, there was a place called Best Steak House that catered to a student crowd. For five dollars, you could get a small and not terribly tender steak, a giant baked potato, and a slab of Texas toast. For an extra dollar, they'd give you a salad. When we went there for a special treat (for five dollars-es did not grow on trees) the Sparrowhawk would stare me out of all countenance so that I'd get flustered and drop bits of salad into my lap. Today being the 53rd anniversary of our third date, we would have liked to go out and have dinner, but decided not to. We were anxious not to worry the kids by exposing ourselves to anything so soon before their arrival. Instead we got takeout steak and hash browns from the Grand Coney, a local joint. We both decided that the Best Steak House deal was better. Of course, maybe that was just because we were young and hungry then!

I had to get up way to early to get to my PT appointment at 9:15. Thursday, I have another one at 8:30! I tried to get it changed, but that was all they had. I told the therapist, "Well, then you'll see me at my worst!" She laughed merrily, being young. I read my after-visit summary and notes. She had written "Patient says she carried a box of books down the stairs." Well, I did . . . but I didn't think it was going to be thus memorialized. I guess it's good that I'll be getting up early, for that is the day on which Tron and the Lumberjack will arrive later in the afternoon! I'm not ready, but I'm very excited!
