ismoThis week's very cold day arrived. It was a big 17 in the morning, then dropped to 16, feels like zero. The Sparrowhawk went to the farmers market but I let him go alone because I was thinking I needed to get things done. . . . He said there weren't many people there, and the ones who were there were cold. The pasty man was absent. The farm lady said their sale on ground beef had ended--but not for him. They love him, as well they should. He also got some more kielbasa, eggs, and apples.
Did I get anything done? Nope, not really. A little laundry put away, a few dishes washed, the leftover chicken made into chicken salad, which mostly got eaten. And 40 minutes on the phone in which I was invited to the memorial service for a friend's husband and updated on the health status of her cats. We do what we can. I've decided what I need to do next with the book, even though I haven't heard from my editor about the outline yet.
Last night, the Sparrowhawk cooked some really nice salmon filets, with steamed artichokes and some frozen fries we happened to have left over. Tonight, he had leftovers and I had a nice plate of leftover vegetables with some rye toast adorned with a bit of smoked salmon and a few bits of sardines with lemon that happened to be left over as well. It was surprisingly delicious. Now we are pretty well out of leftovers and will have to cook something.
