GatherNest of Bluster
Mar. 18th, 2022 10:25 pmWe had our usual Friday Zoom with Deb and the Prussian, always a fun time. I got a few hundred more words in, always skating on the thin ice of not asking WHY. Don't stop to think about it; just keep going. We had soup and toasted cheese for dinner, and then on to the big event of the day: seeing "The Princess Bride" on the big screen, with the symphony orchestra playing the soundtrack live! Wow, that was fun. The energy in performance hall was warm, happy, and relaxed. Everyone was a fan. Waves of laughter and applause swept the audience at the right moments. Particularly at this interchange:
Fezzik: Why do you wear a mask? Were you burned by acid, or something like that?
Westley: Oh no. It’s just they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.
The room rocked at those lines. The music was great. My attention kept bouncing between the screen and the musicians. There was a lot of tremolo in this score. Also a harp, and kettledrums, brass, six basses, and everything good. It was the first time in a long time that I've felt I was doing something together with a large group of people and that we were all on the same wavelength.
