IvySpine of Bluster
Mar. 23rd, 2022 09:26 pmI woke up kind of late this morning, because I had already been awake around six, listening to the cold rain rattling on the roof, and the wind whistling around. The Sparrowhawk was awakened by the wind too. We took turns being awake. So when I finally got up, I was irritable because I had too many things to do too fast. I fixed up the birthday card I got for Dr. Nurse and found a saucer for the pot her mini-garden was planted in, and put it all on the table so the Sparrowhawk could give it to Dr. Music when he came for the Sparrowhawk's piano lesson. I drank my tea, gave the Sparrowhawk his toast and coffee, took a shower and put on respectable clothes, and hastened over to the bookstore to have lunch with Madame. Apparently I am responsible for getting her to read a fantasy novel for the first time, although it is a Nora Roberts fantasy novel. It's interesting to watch a neophyte struggle with the protocols, even though Nora Roberts protocols are somewhat mangled from the point of view of a hard core SFF fan like me.
I drove home in the rain, past the lake, which is now completely ice free. The ice fishing shacks are down for the year. I noticed that we have 85,000+ miles on the car--which I still think of as "the new car" because it's not the Ford Explorer we had for 15 years and gave to the Diva when it had 200,000 miles. I hope this car will last as long, but it might not. The Explorer served most of its time in Kansas and Texas, not in Michigan where snow and road salt take their toll.
I worked on the WIP for awhile, then had a Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch.
