ChatterRing of Bluster
Apr. 4th, 2022 11:29 pmI've been told by a reliable source that some people have seasonal affective disorder in the spring rather than winter, or in addition to winter. Well, that would be just typical. That might explain my state of shying away from everything right now. There is nothing I look at that does not seem to reproach me in some way. Like Rilke and his Greek torso, but not as poetic. Perhaps it is just the season of our discontent.
I heard the rain rattling on the roof as it was getting light, but didn't mind it. Cold rain is part of spring. Then I got up, and it had turned into snow again! Okay, take a deep breath--snow is also part of spring, around here anyway. I had a Zoom with Dragonfly. Next month she says I can come over to her house and we'll meet in the backyard! Hopefully it WILL be warm enough then. The Sparrowhawk and I were texting with the Nipper. He's coming for a few days when Raptor has spring break--next week. We were hoping he could come for the whole week, but it turns out he can only come for Tuesday through Thursday and go home Friday. He will actually be in Michigan for the funeral of the Redhead's grandmother on Thursday, but they're just going to come and go, and will not have time to drive over to this side of the state, alas. Still, it's something to look forward to.
I did not get any writing done, for various reasons involving telecommunications. It just wasn't that kind of day--the productive kind, that is. The Sparrowhawk went to the gym, and I took a walk. He watched the KU vs. UNC basketball game while texting with the Diva and Tron and the Lumberjack, all hard-core Jayhawks. Thank goodness the Jayhawks won. A pall of gloom would have been cast over the entire family if they hadn't. I occupied myself with divvying up the Easter treats to see what we've got so far. A couple of additions must be made, plus more artistic packaging, and then they'll be ready for shipping. There are five boxes rather than four, because of Muffinhead being away at college. I read a few more chapters of The Timeless Way of Building by Christopher Alexander, a book about architecture that is really about a lot of other things as well.
A crocus had started to unfold in yesterday's brief moment of sunlight, but it curled up again today. The rabbits have eaten one bunch of tulip leaves already, darn them. I mean, I do see the attraction of succulent tulip leaves, but I wish they wouldn't.
