Last night I entered the "coughing my lungs out as invisible birds of prey claw the inside of my chest with their talons" phase of the respiratory infection. This usually heralds the start of recovery, but it's horrid while it lasts. However, I am slowly getting better. I put away the laundry I did yesterday. The tablecloths and sheets had already been folded up and put where they belonged. I got some wordage in. The Nonesuch had sent me a clip from "Caesar and Cleopatra" with a scene of spectacle that he thought resembled something that might have happened on Barsoom. The Sparrowhawk and I had never seen the movie, so we tried watching it. Wow, what a stinker! Poor Rex Harrison. Normally I find him such a stiff that I don't really like him, but trying to act opposite Elizabeth Taylor's version of Cleopatra must have been agony. We didn't last until Richard Burton showed up. I don't know if the writing or the acting is most to blame, but this movie makes "The Ten Commandments" look like genius. It's one of those things that make you go "whyyyyyy???"

another advantage of getting old

illness is very much a "yeah, this thing, i know how it goes." when i have a cold, e.g., i am fairly miserable until i start sounding like garbo. then, when ppl know to feel sorry for me, is when i start feeling better.

Ouch, the coughing sounds extremely unpleasant and I hope things have improved today.
