As promised, the temperature was over 80 today. It was sunny and beautiful, and people were buzzing about in lightweight clothing. The neighbors across the street are prepping their camper van for some adventure. Alas, I was unable to enjoy it, except at a distance. Far from being all better, I woke up with one of those headaches that feel as if someone is pounding a spike through your face. I had to pull my hoodie over my eyes because it seemed the morning light was trying to stab me. I started hydrating myself at a fast clip, and that eventually backed the misery off to a tolerable level. What I would really like is a simple injection that would knock me out for the next 24 hours. If I didn't feel better when I woke up, I'd go back into a coma until I did. I had to text my niece and my sister and tell them that I would not be attending the baby shower, because I could not be around people in my current state. I was very disappointed.

Our random refrigerator repair person went AWOL again, and never called to let us know he wasn't coming. That's his last chance, I fear. So we turned the thoroughly defrosted refrigerator back on, sans ice maker. It chilled down to the correct temperature. The Sparrowhawk put everything back in, but even with my help, he couldn't quite push it back into place. He's looking for a different repair person to advise us, but at least it's working for the time being. For dinner I had mashed potatoes and a few dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets that Raptor didn't eat when he was here. Nursery food!

I had some witty thought in mind, but it has eluded me now. This day was another episode of relentless misery until about 5 pm when I started to feel just a tiny bit better. Meaning that not EVERY part of my body hurt, or not all at the same time. I am hopeful of being unconscious for at least part of the next eight hours. I hope that's not too much to ask.

It is not too much to ask. I suspect the chicken nuggets made the difference, she says with conviction.

Does Nyquil work for you?
