TreeFest of Bliss
May. 10th, 2022 09:21 pmLast night my computer lost its ability to connect with the internet. I wonder, as a sidelight, if the Devices are aware when we have problems, and deliberately fall apart at the same time. And if so, is this done maliciously just to pile on, or are they like overly-empathetic pets who respond to tensions in the household by delivering signs of their responsive stress? I guess we'll never know until they learn to use their words with us. Anyway, my helpful Sparrowhawk considered various fixes, and then delivered his considered opinion that perhaps it should just be replaced. He pointed out that it's nine years old. I hadn't realized that. It is a pretty good run for a computer, and it's had a couple of repairs along the way, so I guess I've gotten my money's worth out of it. He went out forthwith and brought home this shiny new, slightly junior sized MacBook Air. And then I annoyed the bejabers out of myself by trying to get it set up with a covid-brain. Last night I tested negative, but I am still debilitated. Meaning I get up and do one or two smallish things, then get dizzy and nauseated and have to sit down.
consensus post-covid advice
