Not so much writing today, but a few hundred words. Things are looking up, health-wise, for the family I've been worried about. We had a nice catch-up Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. I also had a brief but happy call from Master J, who was able to combine our birthday present with one from her son to get some earrings and a beautiful book about trees. As an artist, she is in love with visual representations of things, and I totally get that. I washed all the laundry that returned with my bag. I also changed the sheets and towels and washed the used ones. I had a text exchange with Dr. Nurse about maybe coming over today, but in the end, they decided they'd be occupied getting ready for their family vacation with the Duchess et al. I had invited them to eat with us, but apologized ahead of time for what I thought would be a scrappy meal. I was planning to heat up some frozen fish filets. When the time came, I felt sorry they weren't there, because I found this and that, and it turned out to be quite a nice meal: fish, baked potatoes, lettuce and tomato, cole slaw, and stir-fried bok choy, onions, and mushrooms, with peanuts and hoisin sauce.

The Sparrowhawk tried to mow the lawn before it rained, but his lawnmower broke down. The place that used to service them had stopped doing that. He went out to buy a new mower, a Stiehl battery-powered thing made in Virginia, imagining it would be more durable and easier to service. Alas, the model he wanted was so much on back order that they wouldn't even let him try to order one. There were two places in town that sold a slightly lower-end model. Each of them had ONE in stock. So he bought one of them. I do wonder when the weird shortages of things will stop. Or IF it will. Neither of us slept well, so we're hoping to do better tonight.
