ismoThis was a day with lots of things in it. It rained last night. Today there was no rain, but sun and clouds came and went, with a gusty breeze. The wind and rain have brought down quite a few leaves, and half the front yard was thickly covered. I decided to put sheets and towels in the laundry first, and then rake some leaves. The Sparrowhawk helped me for awhile. We raked up seven bags of leaves! It's just the first iteration. We'll have to do it again two or three times, I predict.
Then I went in and made coleslaw with half the giant cabbage I got at the farmers market. That cabbage was so crisp and fresh! Oh my goodness. It crackled as I cut it up. Then I grated it with two carrots and two apples, julienned, and put dressing on it. The dressing was a little blah. I could have fancied it up a bit, but I was tired. The carrots made it nice and colorful, and the apples added a bit of sweetness.
I added another scene to my WIP. Then we went to church, followed by the potluck to which I brought the coleslaw. The potluck was very funny, because the couple who are usually in charge and who order pizza were not there that day. The others got some hot dogs out of the freezer--leftover from the church picnic a couple of weeks ago. There were a bunch of kids there, and we all played charades after the hot dogs. This was hilarious. I have no idea how they managed to guess some of the words. There must be some form of kid telepathy. When we got home, it was dark and we were tired!

Date: 2022-10-16 03:05 pm (UTC)I am not a huge fan of traditional cole slaw, so my version is sliced purple cabbage with dates and feta, dressed with lime juice and olive oil.
