WinterLanding of Ember
Dec. 19th, 2022 09:43 pmAfter getting up a little early to see the Sparrowhawk off to his money-counting, I cleaned up a little and welcomed Dragonfly for chat and meditation, followed by going out to lunch. It was really her turn to host, but her wife needed the space for some pastoral care. I came home and was working on doing some writing, when Queenie called. I needed to talk to her, because she had her pre-op appointment this morning for surgery on the 22nd. She's worried about it and I am too! But I think there's a very good chance she'll come through it with flying colors and be able to really feel good again.
The Sparrowhawk went to the gym. We had texted our neighbor Irish's wife to find out what kind of cookies he likes, and learned that a) he likes peanut butter cookies, and b) she was going to be out of town, so some baking would be welcome. I have a good recipe for peanut butter cookies. I added some butterscotch chips and some peanut butter chips that happened to be lying around doing nothing, and took a couple of dozen next door--taking pains to Not Fall Down, as everything is covered in ice at the moment. When Irish opened the door, there were a bunch of little girls in PJs capering about. His three daughters were having a sleepover with friends--of course they were, it's Christmas vacation! Sometimes I forget about these things. So it seemed like the opportune time for a big plate of cookies. I hope he gets a few before the kids get to them.
I thought of a few more people who needed Christmas cards, and prepared them. And that was about it for my day.
