Dec. 30th, 2022 09:36 pmThe kids went home this afternoon. I had been kind of hoping they might stay until New Year's, but they both have classes to prepare for the semester that starts on January 4. Besides, it's not that far any more, and they said they'd come back for my birthday. It will be a joint celebration, because both of them are January birthdays too. And maybe by then, we'll have another January birthday, when the Philosopher's child is born! So, I am at leisure to post.
It's so great that they live only two hours away now, instead of a whole arduous day's drive! They didn't have to get up early and go. The Lumberjack had time to go for his swim (no, not in the lake! In a gym with a pool) and then they took us out to a favorite coffee shop for sandwiches and coffee before saying goodbye. The Sparrowhawk had his Zoom with his high school friends, and I worked a little on my book. Then Dr. Music arrived to tune the piano. It was a fascinating process and took about two hours. Dr. Nurse came by to pick him up, and brought Bird Baby, so we had a nice visit with her as well. Dr. Music was still in the midst of his process (he's an apprentice piano tuner at this point) and took a break for a sandwich between the octaves above middle C and those below. After they went home, we luckily had a lot of leftovers from getting take-out with the kids, because I was starving and needed a quick dinner.
The temperature went up as promised, and two feet of snow has melted away in just a couple of days. This is some strange weather we're having.
