I'm getting more and more lackadaisical about writing things down. Must . . . put . . . [self] . . . in . . . gear . . . . The snow is very slowly melting as the temperature rises above freezing. It'll go back down on Friday, however, and then snow/freezing rain some undetermined amount that has the local weather reporters very excited. They are so cute and adorkable in their earnest enthusiasm for weather catastrophes of all kinds.

It was nice that the day was mild for my latest adventure with Madame. I talked to her yesterday and settled that i would come earlier than usual, because she had an appointment for a haircut at one o'clock. Earlier, she had pooh-poohed the notion of getting a haircut at Happy Hills, but she has succumbed to convenience. She called me TWICE this morning to make sure I knew she would be waiting for me in the lobby. She was also alarmed at finding a message I left last week when she wasn't answering her doorbell. I picked her up and carried her off to the bookstore for our accustomed lunch. The cafe has started serving avocado toast, and I ordered some. It was actually the first time I'd ever tried this contemporary staple food. It was quite tasty. I explained to Madame that she had only been at Happy Hills for a week. She was amazed. She was certain she'd been there at least two weeks. Well, I understand that. It felt like a long week to me, too. I do think that she is looking better and moving a bit faster than when she was at home. Sadly, there's still a good deal of confusion that I don't think is going to go away. Even though I arrived early, we barely made it back in time--right on the dot of one. She thanked me repeatedly for taking her out. Clearly I have become a fixture!

I was tired when I got home. It always takes me awhile to stop shouting! While the Sparrowhawk was at the gym, I decided I might as well bite the bullet and check on Wol, who has been slightly on my conscience for awhile. Last time I talked to him, he was still in rehab, refusing to do physical therapy. It turns out they've put him back in his apartment, as they threatened to do. No prosthetic yet, because his stump hasn't healed yet. He uttered his usual complaints about people who are not doing what he wants them to. I'm sure it's very frustrating not to be in charge of your own stuff any more. I hope I will be agreeable and kind if this happens to me, but one never knows. Part of the problem is that the things they want are impossible, but they don't realize it's impossible. Their minds have been left behind in a different time and space. Anyway, it's better he should vent to me rather than to those long-suffering folks who are not coming up to his standards.

Great excitement tonight when the sky cleared up in time for us to see Venus and Jupiter side by side, as close together as the gleaming eyes of a celestial cat!
