WildGarlic of Trill
Mar. 21st, 2023 10:26 pmA public service announcement: Awhile ago, I made a nice, simple raita with cucumbers, yogurt, mint, cilantro, and ground coriander. It tasted pretty good at the time. Then I left it in the refrigerator for days. I finally got around to eating more of it yesterday. It had become really delicious, far better than when it was first mixed up. The herbs had a chance to permeate throughout the dish. So maybe the next time you make raita, do it the day before and leave it in the refrigerator to mellow. Maybe that's not traditional--I don't know. But it seems to work.
It was another beautiful day, even warmer than yesterday. I went for a longer walk while the Sparrowhawk was giving a demo with his gym team downtown. The last time he did this, it was at a fundraiser, and I went to support him and the team. This time, it was just kind of an informative deal with two doctors giving speeches, a thing for which I have very little patience. He said it would be fine if I didn't attend, so I got my own exercise in. It was Dr. Nurse's birthday today, so I walked to the garden store and carried home a pot planted with spring bulbs and pansies. They cover the soil prettily with soft green moss when you buy it. The Sparrowhawk drove it over to her house when he got home. I couldn't walk that far and was otherwise occupied at the time. It was also our grandson Muffinhead's birthday. He's a large, busy guy in college now, so we celebrated by Venmo-ing him some money. I'm sure it will come in handy.
Queenie texted me this morning with some disturbing news. She and the Fireman spent the night in the hospital after he had chest pains. He was having tests. They had to stay there overnight again tonight. He has a heart catheterization scheduled for 9 tomorrow.
