I've been occupied with various things, and ending up feeling so tired at night that I don't blog. So I missed recording the last few days of crazy weather! First it went up to 80, and every bud that had been hanging fire lit its green fuse and exploded! I wasn't ready for that. Then, yesterday, a wind arose and it rained, and the temperature plummeted. This morning, I woke up shortly before dswn and saw that once again a cover of white had been pulled up over the green grass. I went back to sleep for awhile, and when I woke up again, the sun was up and the snow was melting away. However, it kept snowing on and off all day. It was strange to see the white showers blowing past the budding trees and the daffodils.

I talked to Queenie this morning. Then I mostly puttered around, doing random things like washing the salt and pepper shakers, doing laundry, and dusting various surfaces. When the Sparrowhawk went to the gym, I felt as if I should take a walk. Deb and the Prussian were here on Thursday and Friday, after they visited another friend from long ago, who lives nearby and has been diagnosed with untreatable cancer. Deb and I went out for a long walk in the hot weather, and she exhorted me that I should make exercise a priority. I know I should, but other obligations have a way of taking over. I got more than usual last week. My reward was that on Sunday, my hips were so stiffened up that I had trouble getting around. It was super embarrassing. Perhaps it is partly the changing weather. Today my legs were more flexible. However, the thought of a walk was not appealing, because it was cold and snowing/raining. I realized that my wooden step that I use for exercise indoors was in the car, because I've been using it to help Madame climb aboard. But I decided to experiment with just walking around the house rapidly without a step. I kept it up for half an hour, and managed to unload the dishwasher, put the leftovers from dinner away, and move laundry around, all while sort of jogging in place. Fitbit accepted it as a day of exercise! Victory!

Things that have over-wintered and are now sprouting green leaves again: marjoram, sage, parsley, and weirdly, my hideous but unkillable kale plant! This is the third year it has come back from the dead! It's grey, knobbly, and withered in the fall, but I just leave it in place, and new green leaves sprout from it. I never knew that kale could be a perennial. This is my reward for being such an untidy gardener. Others pull all the nasty-looking old plants out of the beds. I let them go their own way, and behold! Just lucky, I guess. I haven't done any gardening yet, because the weather has been so very unhelpful. Earlier this month, it rained so much that our back yard was a squishy morass, so I really couldn't go out there. Maybe next week it will be possible.

Yay exercise! Are you able to take anything for the stiffness? I find sometimes an Aleve/Tylenol combo helps. I only do that when it's pretty bad, which is mostly standing on a stone floor for choir.

How frustrating for you! I'm sorry.
