We've been hosting PropellerBeanie for the last couple of days, but she is now off on her next adventure. She got here Thursday afternoon, and after she got settled and had a bit of a break, we took her out to dinner at a favorite restaurant. We had a gift card to use, kindly given to us by Dr. Nurse, and the restaurant was having BBQ night. One always has some creeping doubts as to whether a restaurant that branches out a bit will be successful in their experiment, but in this case all was well. The Sparrowhawk had the half rack, and PropellerBeanie and I had brisket, with assorted sides. The other two had a local beer that was on sale, and I had an Old Goat Manhattan. We shared a coffee flavored creme brulee, and everyone went home happy.

We had lots of conversation about travel and general catching up. This pretty much went on throughout the visit--people showing each other pictures and reminiscing, etc. Friday morning, the Sparrowhawk went to the gym, and I made some bacon and eggs for the guest and myself. We left a little bacon for him when he got home. It was supposedly going to rain any minute, but hadn't yet, so we biffed off to the botanical gardens, which PropellerBeanie had expressed a wish to see. I took a couple of emergency ponchos in a Ziploc bag. We saw the Japanese garden, which was full of lovely purple flowers of a shade congenial to PropellerBeanie, and then wandered around the sculpture garden until it did, in fact, start to rain. We donned what PropellerBeanie referred to as "the ponchos of shame" (Why?? Just because they made us look like matching orange pumpkins?) but the rain was taking itself seriously, so we decided it would be best to head back to the building. There we refreshed ourselves with coffee in the cafe, and then went home.

PropellerBeanie considerately offered to cook something for dinner in her Instant Pot, but we decided that on the whole it would be easier for me to cook what I had on hand rather than making a trip to the store for ingredients. I happened to have some nice mangos, so I'd been planning to make that mango chicken curry sometime. This seemed like a good time. Mango chicken curry, green beans, rice, avocado caesar salad. Again, everyone went to bed happy, eventually. This morning, our guest had a shower, reorganized her camper a bit, repacked, showed us neophytes the interior and educated us about how things worked. Then she headed out on the road again, an intrepid traveler!
