I woke up at 5, gave up and got up at 5:30. The Sparrowhawk came down about an hour later. He made us some tea, which we drank in commiseration. At 8, I suggested we try a nap. Apparently this didn't work for him, but it did for me. But, whether it's the smoke or the early waking, I still don't feel really good. I packed for the trip, meticulously cleared off the tops of the bookshelves in our room and dusted everything. This involves a lot of precious objects, including a battered Redstone missile model that is a second class relic of Gerald Ford. He gave it to the Sparrowhawk, who was taken to visit the then-congressman by his stepmom, who once worked for Ford. After that, I was tired, and sat and drank tea indoors. It was a perfectly beautiful day, except for the continuing mild haze, but I didn't feel up to going outside. I'm coughing, my eyes water, and I have a headache. The sunlight at this time of year is so lovely and precious, and I feel as if I should be enjoying all of it, but I haven't been able to. It's very frustrating. Also frustrating: problems with the wifi all afternoon. They seem to be fixed now. Tomorrow: tally ho to Pittsburgh. In other news, someone on our NextDoor feed found a large, random pig in their back yard. I hope this doesn't mean that feral pigs are invading western Michigan! Much as I like sausages, that would be a bridge too far.

I am glad the pigs did not decide to visit your plants.
