Another day of much conversation. I took Madame out today because we're going to the lake tomorrow. She was very pleased to go. She was exiting the house without her cane, and I asked her twice if she wanted it. She was sure that she didn't. I thought this was a mistake, but I didn't want to be too bossy, so I let it go. When we arrived at the bookstore, she was surprised by the lack of a cane. "Where's my cane?" she said. "You said you didn't want it," I replied. She was astonished. "What? When did I say that? I must have been crazy!" No comment . . . . She survived all right without it. She told me a long story of how Mademoiselle had taken her to a doctor yesterday, for memory issues. But according to her, this doctor just lectured the whole time and never asked any questions, and she has no idea what it was all about. Sigh. I wonder what really happened. However, she is talking more favorably of possibly moving into a retirement community, at least for a short time to see what it's like.I have so much sympathy for her. I know this is a very hard part of life to navigate. That's one of the things we talk about.

This is Tron and the Lumberjack's anniversary! I remember their wedding day fondly. It was a great occasion, and so lovely that they were able to stay with us while getting ready for the wedding.

It must be good for Madame to have such a sympathetic listener.
