We watched another episode of "For All Mankind," just to see if things would get any better. It turns out they were messing with us in the last episode. Certain things were not what they seemed. So I revoke my universal hatred. I still think there's about 100 times too much drama, however. Also I AM still pissed about what they did with Deke Slayton. It seems that the more I know about a thing, the more inclined I am to hate its representation in media. "Oppenheimer" had all the same problems but on a macro level.

It turns out Mr. Science is in Wisconsin getting his immunoglobulin infusions. They have to drive 4 1/2 hours to get there from their place in the UP, every Tuesday until mid-October. Normally they don't stay in the UP that long, but perhaps this year they will. I guess it's quicker and cheaper than flying from home in PA. Half his family is there, working remotely, and the other half is coming soon. In October, there will be another nerve conduction test. If it hasn't improved, then ALS will be the definitive diagnosis.

This afternoon, we went back to the branch library in the Village, where we used to hang out a lot, pre-covid. We got out of the habit. There's a reading room with easy chairs and a big window overlooking the lake. We sat there for a couple of hours while I scribbled in my notebook and looked out the window at people paddle boarding and swimming, and was jealous. You can only swim in the lake if you either own a house on the lake or belong to the yacht club. Neither of which is our speed, so no swimming for us. Libraries are not as quiet as they used to be. Other than the usual screaming from kids and indiscreet mothers, a lively conversation wafted toward me that I'm quite sure contained the words "parole officer." They have moved the New Books section, and it's smaller! I am outraged! Yes, I am irascible lately. We then proceeded to walk through the park and out to the boardwalk in the marsh. We saw the sleek, undulating back of a muskrat swimming past, as well as little fish and stately swans.
