I was reminded today of one of my father's famous sayings. It was Christmas time and we were visiting. He attempted to back the car out of the garage, went sideways, and ended up in a snowbank. The Sparrowhawk went to the rescue and heard Daddy muttering, "It's only 10 am and I've already bollixed up the whole day!" My day, likewise was quite bollixed by 10 am. I woke up coughing and had to get up before dawn. So, by the time the light dawned over a bleak scene sprinkled again with snow, I needed a nap. I went back to bed and slept until after noon. I do wish I could get over whatever this is and feel normal again. I'm due for my regular checkup next Monday, so it seems pointless to make an appointment before then, but this is so tiresome.

It was a good day to brave the wind and swirling snowflakes to go to the movies. We saw "A Wrinkle in Time." I honestly loved it, and think many of the reviewers who have criticized just don't understand! I admit that Giant Oprah is a bit much, but overall, I thought the colorful transformation of the three Mrs. W's was wonderful and quite in the spirit of the book. I liked the first part of the movie best, with the development of the characters, all of whom were well cast in my opinion, and their embarking joyously on adventure. The climax where they go up against the Dark Thing wasn't as well-structured as in the book, I thought, but that was about my only quibble. The naysayers should go soak their heads, IMHO.

There's a special headspace I get into at the movies that is sometimes conducive to creativity. My imagination feels freed by the big space and super-realism of film where everything is brighter and bolder than my everyday surroundings. I'm sorry to say that today I made some leaps of the mind and started thinking I should rewrite Angel Bait on a grander scale. . . . Oh dear. Is this inspiration, or temptation? I won't have much chance to work on it tomorrow, anyway, because I'll be doing an appointment marathon--haircut followed by dentist.

you didn't bollix. you *were* bollixed

It sounds like you needed the sleep.

Also, screw the reviewers, they did not get it at all.

And you can rewrite if you want, just AFTER you send out the synopsis package.
