Fledgeling of Bluster
Mar. 15th, 2018 10:25 pmToday I did something that I haven't done in quite awhile: sent off a query, a synopsis, and the first chapter of a novel to an agent. I'm not getting my hopes up that this means anything. Even if this agent actually took me on, there would still be a long road of submissions to publishers and so forth and so on, followed by wondering if anyone would actually buy the book once it came out. And chances are this agent will reject me anyway. But at least I made a step in the right direction.
This process is so different from when I first entered publishing! No more snail mail! No more printing out of manuscripts and running to Kinko's with them to make copies, and then taping them up in a cardboard box and dashing to the post office with your heart in your mouth. It's all electronic now. You take your fate in your hands with the click of a key. It's a lot easier this way--which probably isn't good, because it encourages my competition!
I tried to accomplish a couple of other things today, but without success. I wanted to order a new outfit for Dr. Nurse's wedding, but gave up when the website informed me it would be delivered sometime in May. That will not work, given that the wedding is in April. Grr. Now I have to come up with something entirely different to wear. I also called the nurse manager at my mother's place to ask a couple of questions about her recent care. She didn't call me back. Again, grrr.
