It's been raining a lot lately. I feel listless and unaccomplished. There's certainly a good excuse for that today, when I got a mere five hours of sleep and felt pretty miserable all day. There was an interval between rain showers when we sat outside for awhile. It was 68 degrees today, although cloudy and windy, but tomorrow the temperature will start falling, so I thought we'd better make hay while the sun (almost) shines. I was barefoot in the wet leaves, a pleasant sensation that doesn't happen after the frost. People who wear shoes all the time don't get that the feet are a sensory organ. Yesterday, I did the grocery shopping. The "savings" I supposedly got were equal to one third of the bill--my best ratio yet. My sole extravagance, other than the bags of Halloween candy for distribution, was a couple of filets of whitefish. Even when it's somewhat marked down, it's not cheap, but it's good every once in awhile. The Sparrowhawk cooked it for dinner with lemon and some beautiful fresh dill from the market. Even this did not cheer me up, although I'm sure the protein was good for me. Maybe I'll be able to sleep tonight.
